Four Signs Your Car Is Having Electrical Issues

So many components of cars today are run by the electrical system that the strain on your battery can be quite intense. You don’t need to be a technician to catch some of the common signs of electrical issues. Here are four you should know.

1. Strange Odors

If your electrical circuit is handling too much power, you may smell burning or melting plastic. This smell can also be a sign of fire and is something to get checked out as quickly as possible.

2. Clunky Start

A bad battery isn’t always the reason your car has difficulty starting. An electrical problem could be disrupting the injection of fuel during cranking. Listen for a clicking noise when you turn the key and then take your car in to a mechanic.

3. Dim Lights
When lights in your vehicle begin to dim, it could be a sign of an electrical problem in the system. Check your headlight and brake lights specifically since they’re also very important to driving at night.

4. Low Battery
If you’ve noticed any of these other problems, check the charge on your battery. If it’s new but already low on charge, this can clue you in to possible electrical issues.
